I am taking over this blog!

My apartment smells like leeks. I made leek and potato soup, and a mushroom leek tart on puff pastry with parm.

Positive thought for the day:

It's already spring in Cincinnati. I can't remember the last time I lived somewhere where it wasn't snowing for at least some of March.
(I would follow that with "which means the bugs will come back to life soon" but that would be a negative thought.)

Fuzzy Thought of the Day

I promise not all of my positive thoughts will be about food.

Today was free pastry at Starbucks day! So even though my work day got off to a bad start, I went to Starbucks with my mentor and got a yummy berry cake with my coffee.

Then I took my deathtrap car to Toyota, and Costco was doing some kind of promotion there in the dealership waiting room , and had laid out an entire feast. I ate a bunch of wraps and probably half a dozen cream puffs, which were delicious.

I'm going to try to be a more positive person by coming up with one thing every day that is awesome about being in the place that I'm in right now (either work wise, place wise, time wise, whatever).

Today's awesome thing is:

Cincinnati is an awesome food city because it has food trucks (taco trucks, grilled cheese truck, etc.) which I really like, for some reason, even though I've never bought any food from one and because there is a PAELLA guy whom you can hire to come to your house and make a big pot of paella for your party.

I've never eaten paella but I find this concept awesome anyway. I kind of want to do it for my birthday but you need at least 10 people and I have no friends. Well, I can come up with 7 friends (8 but one doesn't eat grains of any kind). So...yeah.

My positive thought sort of ended on a downer thought.

Springtime

I'm excited to be outside without a coat on (and not completely freezing my butt off).

And yes, there is still snow on the ground, but only in select places. :D

Karma II

This past weekend I was in San Francisco, accompanying HummusBoyfriend on his business trip. I had just gone to San Francisco 5 weeks ago, and on my flight there, the guy sitting next to me asked me and the other person if either of us would be willing to switch seats with his girlfriend, who was sitting about 20 rows up ahead. Both of us said no, which I feel bad about now...but she had a middle seat, and I really didn't want a middle seat, and my luggage was already stowed above me and I would have to go back to the back of the plane to get my luggage if I moved up, and...yeah, basically I'm a bad person.

So on the flight back from SF, HummusBoyfriend and I weren't assigned seats next to each other, and I was pretty sure karma was going to come back to bite my butt, but he got the gentleman sitting next to him to switch seats with me (though I will point out that I had an aisle seat). So other people are much nicer than I am, I guess, is the conclusion.

It's 67 degrees out today.

Karma

Last weekend I went to Chicago and, as I have been known to do, I went to the bars. At one place, while waiting for a drink I decided to chat up the older gentleman next to me. I was thinking at the very least he would be entertaining while I was waiting and at the most he would pay for my drink. We blah blah blah'd about Chicago and as I ordered my drink (jager bomb!!), he said he would like one too. When the bartender came back with our drinks, she asked me who was paying. I looked at the guy and he lifted his shirt a little and showed me HIS GUN. Well I paid for his drink. Then I scurried away and hid in the corner of the room until I saw him leave.

Now that I am safe, I have to admit that I probably deserved that.
